It’s surprising to me when you see a giraffe in the middle of Kansas, but where else would you get to see a giraffe in Kansas besides a zoo.
This was the absolute first time that the twins had ever been to a zoo. This particular zoo had a lot of rescue animals such as a rhinoceros with a missing horn, so at least the animals were there with some purpose. Giraffes, rhinoceroses, bears, pythons, gorillas, camels, and an orangutan were some of our favorites. Fray said his favorite animal were the geese roaming freely throughout the park.
This particular zoo was all outside with a few indoor exhibits, so it was very easy for us to practice social distancing. We had also gone during the middle of the week and there was a total of six other people at the entire park. The zoo reminded me of Jurassic Park after dinosaurs escaped (not from clutter, but from emptiness). This place was overrun by geese, so it would not have surprised me if the geese had eaten everyone.
Since we were delayed by winds in Kansas City, we decided to only stay in Salina for one night. We are anxious to start looking for a house in Colorado. The housing market is tough right now still, so we are having a hard time finding the perfect property for us. We are considering property in Colorado Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
We’ve got one more stop in Kansas then we will be only a few hours from Colorado. The the next location will offer vaccines for out of state residents.
