This is question #2 from everyone when we explain our travel across the United States. I thought I would go into more detail here on how we are able to do this financially.
I started a web design business in 2020: https://blinkwebdesigns.com. This allows me to work from anywhere there is WiFi. Before we had left on the trip, we made sure that we had plenty of options. We have a truck that is equipped with AT&T-enabled WiFi, so I can work from the truck. We also have Verizon Wireless with phone hotspots and currently, I am working on KOA WiFi. This combination will ensure that I have WiFi wherever we go.
Since the beginning of the trip was a lot of packing, we had taken the week off from work to get the house emptied and our trip started. Now we’ve been on the road for 7 days and we are settling into the nomad lifestyle better. It’s still cramped going from our larger house to the RV, but only on rainy days. On beautiful days, we have plenty of space outside to work and play. I’m looking forward to setting up my office overlooking the mountains.
Question #1 that everyone asks is, “are you crazy?” The answer to that is clearly, yes. A bit of crazy and a bit of bravery to leave the safety of our home in search of a new life. Making our own adventures that we’ll talk about forever. Something unique that fits us perfectly.
